Therapeutic Wilderness Program is the First Phase

The first phase of a stay at Shepherd’s Hill Academy is a wilderness program, intended to remove distractions, build trust and teach teamwork. Living without electricity and other conveniences allows teens to contemplate more meaningful issues of life. The necessity of collaborating to meet basic daily needs calls for coping and teamwork skills, giving teens good reason to consider how their contribution impacts others.

The Therapeutic Boarding School and Residential Program is Next

After residents demonstrate responsible decisions and take ownership of their growth, they transition to the residential program and live in a home on campus. This phase prepares them to transition into society as privileges and personal freedoms are restored.

An Accredited Therapeutic Boarding School with Certified Teachers and Counselors

During both phases of the program, teens are enrolled in our on-campus, fully accredited junior and senior high school, staffed with Georgia certified instructors. We desire students to get caught up and to also prepare for college, so we also incorporate test prep for the SAT and ACT as part of our ordinary curriculum.

Shepherd’s Hill Academy is structured to equip troubled youth with the skills needed to become more confident, productive and respectful at home, school, and in the community. We provide a state accredited junior and senior high school on campus.
