Researching therapeutic boarding school near Ohio? Have you considered one with a wilderness program built into it as well?
Maybe you’ve been having difficulty with a rebellious or misbehaving teen in your family? Has your troubled teen been expelled from school, or gotten into trouble with the law? Do you worry about their safety? As a result, you may be looking into residential care options; such as a therapeutic boarding school or a wilderness program, which are both vital and proven solutions when dealing with troubled boys and girls.
While it is not located in Ohio, we encourage you to check out Shepherd’s Hill Academy. For a generation, Shepherd’s Hill Academy has been helping troubled boys and girls (in separate sections of our campus), helping them get back on track. We’ve helped hundreds of teens from around the country and from Ohio, serving homes just like yours.
A Hybrid Between a Wilderness Program and a Boarding School, with a Christian Emphasis
Shepherd’s Hill Academy, located in northeast Georgia about 2 hours from Atlanta, is a hybrid between a therapeutic wilderness program and a Christian boarding school with several forms of therapy, including counseling and equine therapy. Teens come to Shepherd’s Hill Academy from the east coast, south, midwest, western states and west coast, including from New York, Philadephia, Pittsburg, Boston, Atlanta and Ohio.
Shepherd’s Hill Academy is an unashamedly Christ-centered therapeutic boarding school, believing that transformation due to a relationship with Jesus is the only genuine and lasting change. We provide a first-rate education, one-on-one mentoring and counseling, equine therapy, and teamwork exercises to help teens grow character and learn to make responsible decisions.
Therapeutic Wilderness Program is the First Phase
The early part of enrollment at Shepherd’s Hill Academy is a wilderness program, designed to eliminate distractions, build trust and encourage teamwork. Removing electronics and other conveniences gives teens an opportunity to contemplate more meaningful issues of life. The necessity of cooperating to meet basic daily needs involves coping and teamwork strategies, pushing teens to consider their responsibility to others.
The Therapeutic Boarding School and Residential Program is Next
Once the teens in our care display responsible decisions and take ownership of their growth, they shift to the residential program and move to a home on campus. This phase prepares them to transition into society as privileges and personal freedoms are restored.
An Accredited Therapeutic Boarding School with Certified Teachers and Counselors
During both phases of the program, teens attend our on-campus, fully accredited junior and senior high school, staffed with Georgia certified teachers. We encourage students to get caught up and to also prepare for college, so we also incorporate test prep for the SAT and ACT as part of our ordinary curriculum.
SHA is designed to equip troubled youth with the skills needed to become more confident, productive and respectful at home, school, and in the community. We provide a state accredited junior and senior high school on campus. Our unique combination of a wilderness program, certified equine program, and first-class therapeutic boarding school is all designed to bring focus back into a child’s life. We also utilize accountability groups, individual behavioral and family counseling.
Though our therapeutic boarding school is not located in Ohio, we do have students who come to our school from all over the country, including Ohio. The distance, therapy and the time away from home is an effective opportunity to bring healing to your entire family, so call us at (706) 703-4188 or visit the rest of this site to learn more.
