Researching therapeutic boarding school near North Carolina? Have you considered one with a wilderness program built into it as well?
Have you been having difficulty with a rebellious or unruly teen in your family? Has your troubled boy or girl been expelled from school, or gotten into trouble with the law? Do you worry about their safety? As a result, you may be looking into residential care options; such as a therapeutic boarding school or a wilderness program, which are both vital and proven solutions when dealing with troubled teenagers.
While it is not located in North Carolina, we encourage you to check out Shepherd’s Hill Academy. For 20 years, Shepherd’s Hill Academy has been helping troubled boys and girls (in separate sections of our campus), helping them get back on track. We’ve helped hundreds of teens from around the country and from North Carolina, serving homes just like yours.
A Hybrid Between a Wilderness Program and a Boarding School, with a Christian Emphasis
Shepherd’s Hill Academy, located in northeast Georgia about 2 hours from Atlanta, combines the best aspects of a therapeutic wilderness program and a Christian boarding school with several forms of therapy, including counseling and equine therapy. Teens attend Shepherd’s Hill Academy from the east coast, south, midwest, western states and west coast, including from New York, Philadephia, Pittsburg, Boston, Atlanta and North Carolina.
Shepherd’s Hill Academy is an unapologetically Christ-centered therapeutic boarding school, believing that a change of heart due to a relationship with Jesus is the only true and lasting change. We provide a first-rate education, person-to-person mentoring and counseling, equine therapy, and teamwork exercises to help teens develop character and learn to make responsible decisions.
Therapeutic Wilderness Program is the First Phase
The early part of life at Shepherd’s Hill Academy is a wilderness program, carefully planned to remove distractions, build trust and encourage teamwork. Being without electronics and other conveniences leaves time to contemplate deeper issues of life. The necessity of cooperating to meet simple daily needs calls for coping and teamwork strategies, pushing teens to consider their obligation to others.
The Therapeutic Boarding School and Residential Program is Next
After residents display responsible decisions and take ownership of their growth, they transfer to the residential program and live in a home on campus. This next step gets them ready to transition into society as privileges and personal freedoms are restored.
An Accredited Therapeutic Boarding School with Certified Teachers and Counselors
During both phases of the program, teens attend our on-campus, fully accredited junior and senior high school, taught by Georgia certified instructors. We desire students to get caught up and to also prepare for college, so we also include test prep for the SAT and ACT as part of our daily curriculum.
Shepherd’s Hill Academy is structured to equip troubled teens with the skills needed to become more confident, productive and respectful at home, school, and in the community. We provide a fully accredited junior and senior high school on campus. Our unique combination of wilderness therapy, certified equine program, and first-class therapeutic boarding school is all designed to bring focus back into a child’s life. We also utilize accountability groups, individual behavioral and family counseling.
Although our therapeutic boarding school is not located in North Carolina, we do have students who come to our school from all over the country, including North Carolina. The distance, therapy and the time away from home is an effective opportunity to bring healing to your entire family, so call us at (706) 703-4188 or visit the rest of this site to learn more.
