Therapeutic Wilderness Program is the First Phase

The first phase of enrollment at Shepherd’s Hill Academy is a wilderness program, designed to remove distractions, build trust and teach teamwork. Being without TV, cell phones and other conveniences gives teens an opportunity to contemplate deeper issues of life. The necessity of working together to meet simple daily needs involves coping and teamwork skills, compelling teens to consider their obligation to others.

The Therapeutic Boarding School and Residential Program is Next

After residents demonstrate responsible decisions and take ownership of their growth, they transfer to the residential program and move to a home on campus. This phase prepares them to transition into society as privileges and personal liberties are restored.

An Accredited Therapeutic Boarding School with Certified Teachers and Counselors

All throughout the program, teens are enrolled in our on-campus, fully accredited junior and senior high school, staffed with Georgia certified teachers. We encourage students to get caught up and to also prepare for college, so we also incorporate test prep for the SAT and ACT as part of our regular curriculum.

Shepherd’s Hill Academy is structured to equip troubled teens with the skills needed to become more confident, productive and respectful at home, school, and in the community. We provide a state accredited junior and senior high school on campus. Our unique combination of wilderness therapy, certified equine program, and first-class therapeutic boarding school is all designed to bring focus back into a child’s life.
