Therapeutic Wilderness Program is the First Phase

The first phase of enrollment at Shepherd’s Hill Academy is a wilderness program, intended to remove distractions, build trust and teach teamwork. Being without electronics and other conveniences allows teens to contemplate deeper issues of life. The necessity of collaborating to meet simple daily needs calls for coping and teamwork abilities, pushing teens to consider their responsibility to others.

The Therapeutic Boarding School and Residential Program is Next

Once the teens in our care consistently make responsible decisions and take ownership of their development, they shift to the residential program and live in a home on campus. This phase gets them ready to transition into society as privileges and individual freedoms are restored.

An Accredited Therapeutic Boarding School with Certified Teachers and Counselors

During both phases of the program, teens attend our on-campus, fully accredited junior and senior high school, taught by Georgia certified teachers. We encourage students to get caught up and to also prepare for college, so we also include test prep for the SAT and ACT as part of our daily curriculum.

Shepherd’s Hill Academy is designed to equip troubled teens with the skills needed to become more confident, productive and respectful at home, school, and in the community. We provide a state accredited junior and senior high school on campus. Our unique combination of a wilderness program, certified equine program, and first-class therapeutic boarding school is all designed to bring focus back into a child’s life.
