Researching therapeutic boarding school near Massachusetts? Have you considered one with a wilderness program built into it as well?
You’ve likely been having difficulty with an angry or misbehaving teen in your home? Has your troubled teen been kicked out of school, or gotten into trouble with the law? Do you fear for their safety? As a result, you may be considering residential care options; such as a therapeutic boarding school or a wilderness program, which are both vital and proven solutions when dealing with troubled boys and girls.
Even though it is not located in Massachusetts, we encourage you to check out Shepherds Hill Academy. For 20 years, Shepherds Hill Academy has been guiding troubled boys and girls (in separate sections of our campus), helping them get back on track. We’ve helped hundreds of teens from around the country and from Massachusetts, serving homes just like yours.
A Hybrid Between a Wilderness Program and a Boarding School, with a Christian Emphasis
Shepherds Hill Academy, located in northeast Georgia about 2 hours from Atlanta, combines the best aspects of a therapeutic wilderness program and a Christian boarding school with several forms of therapy, including counseling and equine therapy. Teens come to Shepherds Hill Academy from the east coast, south, midwest, western states and west coast, including from New York, Philadephia, Pittsburg, Boston, Atlanta and Massachusetts.
Shepherds Hill Academy is an unashamedly Christ-centered therapeutic boarding school, believing that a change of heart due to a relationship with Jesus is the only true and lasting change. We offer a first-rate education, person-to-person mentoring and counseling, equine therapy, and teamwork exercises to help teens develop character and learn to make responsible decisions.
Therapeutic Wilderness Program is the First Phase
The early part of enrollment at Shepherds Hill Academy is a wilderness program, intended to remove distractions, build trust and encourage teamwork. Removing TV, cell phones and other conveniences gives teens an opportunity to contemplate more meaningful issues of life. The necessity of collaborating to meet simple daily needs calls for coping and teamwork skills, pushing teens to consider their responsibility to others.
The Therapeutic Boarding School and Residential Program is Next
After residents consistently make responsible decisions and take ownership of their growth, they transfer to the residential program and move to a home on campus. This next step gets them ready to transition into society as privileges and personal freedoms are restored.
An Accredited Therapeutic Boarding School with Certified Teachers and Counselors
During both parts of the program, teens attend our on-campus, fully accredited junior and senior high school, staffed with Georgia certified teachers. We desire students to get caught up and to also prepare for college, so we also include test prep for the SAT and ACT as part of our ordinary curriculum.
SHA is designed to equip troubled youth with the skills needed to become more confident, productive and respectful at home, school, and in the community. We provide a state accredited junior and senior high school on campus. Our unique combination of a wilderness program, certified equine program, and first-class therapeutic boarding school is all designed to bring focus back into a child’s life. We also utilize accountability groups, individual behavioral and family counseling.
Although our therapeutic boarding school is not located in Massachusetts, we do have students who come to our school from all over the country, including Massachusetts. The distance, therapy and the time away from home is an effective opportunity to bring healing to your entire family, so call us at (706) 779-5766 or visit the rest of this site to learn more.
