Researching therapeutic boarding school near Indiana? Have you considered one with a wilderness program built into it as well?
Maybe you’ve been having difficulty with a rebellious or unruly teen in your family? Has your troubled teen been expelled from school, or gotten into trouble with the law? Do you worry about their safety? As a result, you may be looking into residential care options; such as a therapeutic boarding school or a wilderness program, which are both vital and proven solutions when dealing with troubled teenagers.
While it is not located in Indiana, we encourage you to check out Shepherds Hill Academy. For over two decades, Shepherds Hill Academy has been helping troubled boys and girls (in separate sections of our campus), helping them get back on track. We’ve helped hundreds of teens from around the country and from Indiana, serving homes just like yours.
A Hybrid Between a Wilderness Program and a Boarding School, with a Christian Emphasis
Shepherds Hill Academy, located in northeast Georgia about 2 hours from Atlanta, is a hybrid between a therapeutic wilderness program and a Christian boarding school with several forms of therapy, including counseling and equine therapy. Teens attend Shepherds Hill Academy from the east coast, south, midwest, western states and west coast, including from New York, Philadephia, Pittsburg, Boston, Atlanta and Indiana.
Shepherds Hill Academy is an unashamedly Christ-centered therapeutic boarding school, believing that a change of heart due to a relationship with Jesus is the only real and lasting change. We provide a first-rate education, individual mentoring and counseling, equine therapy, and teamwork exercises to help teens develop character and learn to make responsible choices.
Therapeutic Wilderness Program is the First Phase
The first phase of life at Shepherds Hill Academy is a wilderness program, designed to eliminate distractions, build trust and teach teamwork. Living without electronics and other conveniences gives teens an opportunity to contemplate deeper issues of life. The necessity of cooperating to meet basic daily needs involves coping and teamwork strategies, giving teens good reason to consider their obligation to others.
The Therapeutic Boarding School and Residential Program is Next
After residents consistently make responsible choices and take ownership of their growth, they shift to the residential program and live in a home on campus. This next step gets them ready to transition into society as privileges and personal liberties are restored.
An Accredited Therapeutic Boarding School with Certified Teachers and Counselors
During both parts of the program, teens attend our on-campus, fully accredited junior and senior high school, taught by Georgia certified instructors. We encourage students to get caught up and to also prepare for college, so we also include test prep for the SAT and ACT as part of our regular curriculum.
SHA is structured to equip troubled youth with the skills needed to become more confident, productive and respectful at home, school, and in the community. We provide a fully accredited junior and senior high school on campus. Our unique combination of a wilderness program, certified equine program, and first-class therapeutic boarding school is all designed to bring focus back into a child’s life. We also utilize accountability groups, individual behavioral and family counseling.
Though our therapeutic boarding school is not located in Indiana, we do have students who come to our school from all over the country, including Indiana. The distance, therapy and the time away from home is an effective opportunity to bring healing to your entire family, so call us at (706) 779-5766 or visit the rest of this site to learn more.
