The first phase of enrollment at Shepherd’s Hill Academy is a wilderness program, intended to eliminate distractions, build trust and encourage teamwork. Living without technology and other conveniences allows teens to contemplate more meaningful issues of life. The necessity of working together to meet simple daily needs requires coping and teamwork skills, giving teens good reason to consider how their contribution impacts others.

The Therapeutic Boarding School and Residential Program is Next

After a time, when teens display responsible decisions and take ownership of their growth, they transition to the residential program and move to a home on campus. This next step gets them ready to transition into society as privileges and personal freedoms are restored.

An Accredited Therapeutic Boarding School with Certified Teachers and Counselors

All throughout the program, teens attend our on-campus, fully accredited junior and senior high school, staffed with Georgia certified instructors. We desire students to get caught up and to also prepare for college, so we also incorporate test prep for the SAT and ACT as part of our daily curriculum.

SHA is structured to equip misbehaving teens with the skills needed to become more confident, productive and respectful at home, school, and in the community. We provide a state accredited junior and senior high school on campus. Our unique combination of a wilderness program, certified equine program, and first-class therapeutic boarding school is all designed to bring focus back into a child’s life.
