The first phase of a stay at Shepherd’s Hill Academy is a wilderness program, designed to eliminate distractions, build trust and encourage teamwork. Living without electricity and other conveniences allows teens to contemplate more meaningful issues of life. The necessity of working together to meet basic daily needs calls for coping and teamwork abilities, pushing teens to consider how their contribution impacts others.

The Therapeutic Boarding School and Residential Program is Next

After a time, when teens consistently make responsible choices and take ownership of their development, they shift to the residential program and live in a home on campus. This phase gets them ready to transition into society as privileges and personal freedoms are restored.

An Accredited Therapeutic Boarding School with Certified Teachers and Counselors

All throughout the program, teens are enrolled in our on-campus, fully accredited junior and senior high school, staffed with Georgia certified teachers. We desire students to get caught up and to also prepare for college, so we also include test prep for the SAT and ACT as part of our regular curriculum.

Shepherd’s Hill Academy is structured to equip troubled youth with the skills needed to become more confident, productive and respectful at home, school, and in the community. We provide a fully accredited junior and senior high school on campus.
