When puberty takes place in a child, there are a myriad of changes that take place in our kids bodies, hearts, minds, and emotions. Often parents don’t always recognize or know just how to handle these changes as they are happening within their children.
License to Parent with Trace Embry had the opportunity to interview Dr. Walt Larimore. He is a speaker, an award-winning author of over 20 books and has been a medical doctor for nearly 30 years. He has worked with Focus on the Family as the Vice President and Family Physician in Residence. Interestingly enough, Dr. Walt began his medical practice in Bryson City, NC, which is a rural Smoky Mountain town not too far from Shepherd’s Hill Academy.
Dr. Walt has many humanitarian achievements and quite an extensive biography that you can view on his website as well as his many resources. We hope you will check out his website and learn more about Dr. Walt Larimore and what he has to offer parents. Dr. Walt is passionate about helping parents understand what their children are going through during puberty. He has written books on the subject, including his latest book “The Ultimate Guys’ Body Book.” Here is an excerpt from this book:
“You Mean I Can Ask That? Boys’ bodies do the craziest things! They can knock a baseball out to right field or trip in front of class. But at a certain point, those bodies start to grow up and go through some wild changes. You might be wondering things like: Why don’t I look like him? How can I get buff without steroids? And how can I handle that talk my parents want to have—you know, the talk? Yikes! Guy Talk answers all the important questions you want answers to but would rather not ask, mixing fun with great advice for growing guys.”
