Do you have a child that is showing you disrespect by sassing you and disregarding the rules of your home?
If so, we will provide one solution to this problem in today’s License to Parent One Minute Parenting.
Many teens in today’s culture struggle with properly honoring their father and mother. In fact, it may be a problem in your own home.
This is possibly because your teen was allowed to do this without appropriate consequences early on in life. Now that he’s older, the precedent has been set.
However, this is something parents should never tolerate–and certainly should never get used to!
So, in these situations you should plead the fifth. I’m not talking about the fifth amendment.
I’m talking about the fifth commandment that requires us to honor our parents.
Remind your children, at the very first hint of disrespect, that they are breaking the very first commandment God gives to man–for man.Take the time for a teachable moment and remind them they are sacrificing God’s blessing and their own by disrespecting you.
Then, if needed, be sure to exercise the appropriate discipline whenever this commandment is violated.
