For what purpose are moms willing to endure the greater pain of natural childbirth?
It’s because her short-term pain brings a greater chance of long-term well-being to her offspring.
After childbirth, parents purposely put their kids through pain with things like circumcision, inoculations, or fillings in their teeth.
We don’t put our kids through these things because we hate them, but because we love them.
Why is it when our kids are older we become so unwilling to discomfort them for their long-term well-being?
I’m talking about chores, delayed gratification, limits on entertainment, diet, and discipline, etc.
Parents, pain is a good thing and there is still a much greater good to be gained if we will stand our ground. We must allow ourselves and our kids to endure the short-term discomforts of life that yield the long-term benefits.
