Several months ago, the students of Shepherds Hill Academy were visited by Elijah Sebuchu, a Pastor from Uganda and Founder and Director of Hands of Love Orphanages.
During his visit, Elijah shared his testimony and taught the kids to pursue an abundant life in Christ.

Elijah has a wonderful testimony. Coming from a family of 38, poverty was an every day reality for Elijah in Uganda.
He had no privileges. In fact, he did not own a pair of shoes until he was 15 years old.
Once he graduated high school and met his wife, Elijah became a pastor. Surprisingly, he did not know Christ but became a pastor because he needed a job.
However, Elijah’s wife became a Christian. Six months later Elijah accepted Christ as well.
After accepting Christ, Elijah realized he had the responsibility to preach the Truth of God’s word to his people. However, as he began spreading the Gospel, the churches within the community disowned him for preaching the Truth.
Though the churches in Elijah’s community claimed they were Christian, they could not have been further from being Christ followers. The churches actively practiced cannibalism, child sacrifices, and polygamy. In fact, Christianity was only one of the many religions that the people served.
Later, God lead Elijah to become the Founder of the Hands of Love Orphanage to meet the needs of parentless children brought on by the HIV epidemic.
Hands of Love is currently serving 1,400 children. Their vision is to train up the children in the orphanage to become national and international Christian leaders.
Coming from Uganda, Elijah offered us an objective perspective on America’s affluence.
In today’s interview, Elijah discusses how America needs to pursue an abundant life. However, it should not be one of affluence and power, but of the abundant life talked about in Scripture.
