A Christ-Centered Therapeutic Boarding School
Shepherds Hill Academy is unapologetically Christ-centered, believing that transformation due to a relationship with Jesus is the only real and lasting change. Getting Started on the Right Foot — Our Wilderness Program
The first phase of life at Shepherds Hill Academy is a wilderness program, designed to get rid of distractions, build trust and encourage teamwork. Living without electricity and other conveniences gives teens an opportunity to contemplate more meaningful issues of life. The necessity of working together to meet simple daily needs calls for coping and teamwork skills, compelling teens to consider their obligation to others. As they watch staff and leaders who submit to God as the true Authority, they learn a reference point for themselves and can more appropriately relate to authority and to others.
For Parents Seeking a Therapeutic Boarding School in Richmond, Kentucky, We Offer a Well-Rounded Therapeutic Program and Accredited School
After a time, when teens display responsible choices and take ownership of their development, they shift to the residential program and live in a home on campus. This next step prepares them to transition into society as privileges and individual liberties are restored. Careful instruction of parents in our retreats also takes place during this period in preparation for the teen’s going home.
During both parts of the program, the teens receive regular counseling and attend our on-campus, fully accredited junior and senior high school, staffed with Georgia certified teachers. We encourage students to attend college, so we include test prep for the SAT and ACT as part of our daily curriculum.
