Therapeutic Boarding School

A Christ-Centered Therapeutic Boarding School

Shepherd’s Hill Academy is unashamedly Christ-centered, believing that a change of heart due to a relationship with Jesus is the only true and lasting change. We provide a first-rate education, person-to-person mentoring and counseling, equine therapy, and teamwork exercises to help teens develop character and learn to make responsible choices.

Getting Started on the Right Foot — Our Wilderness Program

The early part of a stay at Shepherd’s Hill Academy is a wilderness program, intended to get rid of distractions, build trust and foster teamwork. Living without technology and other conveniences leaves time to contemplate more meaningful issues of life. The necessity of working together to meet basic daily needs calls for coping and teamwork strategies, compelling teens to consider their responsibility to others. As they observe staff and leaders who submit to God as the ultimate Authority, they learn a reference point for themselves and can more appropriately relate to authority and to others.

For Parents Seeking a Therapeutic Boarding School in Greensboro, North Carolina, We Offer a Well-Rounded Therapeutic Program and Accredited School

troubled teen programOnce teens consistently make responsible choices and take ownership of their development, they transfer to the residential program and live in a home on campus. This phase prepares them to transition into society as privileges and personal freedoms are restored. Careful coaching of parents in our retreats also happens during this period in preparation for the teen’s return home.

During both parts of the program, the teens receive regular counseling and attend our on-campus, fully accredited junior and senior high school, staffed with Georgia certified instructors. We encourage students to continue their studies in college, so we include test prep for the SAT and ACT as part of our regular curriculum.

More about boarding schools in or near Greensboro, North Carolina:
Greensboro IPA-en is a city in the U.S. state of North Carolina. It is the third-largest city by population in North Carolina and the largest city in Guilford County and the surrounding Piedmont Triad metropolitan region. According to the 2010 U.S. Census, Greensboro’s population stands at 269,666.
The city is located at the intersection of two major interstate highways in the Piedmont region of central North Carolina.
In 2003, the previous Greensboro – Winston-Salem – High Point metropolitan statistical area (MSA) was re-defined by the U.S. Office of Management and Budget, resulting in the formation of the Greensboro-High Point MSA and the Winston-Salem MSA. The 2010 population for the Greensboro-High Point MSA was 723,801. The Greensboro – Winston-Salem – High Point combined statistical area (CSA), popularly referred to as the Piedmont Triad, had a population of 1,599,477.
In 1808, Greensborough (as was the spelling prior to 1895) was planned around a central courthouse square to succeed the nearby town of Guilford Court House as the county seat. This act moved the county courts closer to the geographical center of the county, a location more easily reached by the majority of the county’s citizens.
Much has changed since then. Greensboro has grown to be part of a thriving metropolitan area called the Triad, which encompasses three major cities (Greensboro, High Point, and Winston-Salem) and more than a million people. Greensboro evolved from a small center of government to an early 1900s textile and transportation hub, and today is emerging as one of the South’s up-and-coming centers for relocating businesses. Two centuries later Greensboro is still collecting accolades for its beauty and livability. In 2004 the Department of Energy (DOE) awarded Greensboro with entry into the Clean Cities Hall of Fame.
