A Christ-Centered Therapeutic Boarding School
Shepherds Hill Academy is unashamedly Christ-centered, believing that transformation due to a relationship with Jesus is the only genuine and lasting change. Getting Started on the Right Foot — Our Wilderness Program
The first phase of life at Shepherds Hill Academy is a wilderness program, intended to get rid of distractions, build trust and foster teamwork. Removing technology and other conveniences allows teens to contemplate more meaningful issues of life. The necessity of cooperating to meet basic daily needs involves coping and teamwork abilities, pushing teens to consider how their contribution impacts others. As they watch staff and leaders who submit to God as the ultimate Authority, they learn a reference point for themselves and can more appropriately relate to authority and to others.
For Parents Seeking a Therapeutic Boarding School in Evansville, Indiana, We Offer a Well-Rounded Therapeutic Program and Accredited School
After a time, when teens display responsible choices and take ownership of their development, they transition to the residential program and live in a home on campus. This phase prepares them to transition into society as privileges and individual liberties are restored. Careful coaching of parents in our retreats also happens during this step in readiness for the teen’s return home.
During both parts of the program, the teens receive regular counseling and are enrolled in our on-campus, fully accredited junior and senior high school, staffed with Georgia certified teachers. We encourage students to continue their studies in college, so we incorporate test prep for the SAT and ACT as part of our regular curriculum.
