Getting Started on the Right Foot — Our Wilderness Program

Living without electricity and other conveniences allows teens to contemplate more meaningful issues of life. The necessity of cooperating to meet basic daily needs calls for coping and teamwork abilities, compelling teens to consider their responsibility to others. As they observe staff and leaders who submit to God as the true Authority, they learn a reference point for themselves and can better relate to authority and to others.

After a time, when teens consistently make responsible decisions and take ownership of their development, they transition to the residential program and move to a home on campus. This phase prepares them to transition into society as privileges and individual liberties are restored. Careful coaching of parents in our retreats also happens during this step in readiness for the teen’s return home.
During both parts of the program, the teens receive regular counseling and are enrolled in our on-campus, fully accredited junior and senior high school, staffed with Georgia certified teachers. We encourage students to continue their studies in college, so we include test prep for the SAT and ACT as part of our daily curriculum.
