Recovery for Your Teen Is Possible

Teen Recovery

Is your teen struggling to feel like themselves again? Find hope at our Christ-centered treatment center.

In recent years, the pandemic has compounded behavioral health issues for adolescents, including dealing with stress, anxiety, and frustration. Recent data shows that 37% of teens have struggled with their mental health during the pandemic, and 44% have felt an ongoing sense of hopelessness or sadness.

Shepherd’s Hill Academy can help. Thanks to its unique, proven approach to nature-based therapy, teens can recover in an unplugged environment, while continuing their education and while finding spiritual discipline in a Christ-centered treatment center.

Teens enrolled in Shepherd’s Hill recovery center engage in a proven combination of therapy programs designed to support behavioral health recovery.

The foundation of our nature-based teen recovery program is about more than getting away from digital stimulation and the constant barrage of social media posts. It is designed to help teens find their way in a Christ-centered program. When teens are away from modern devices and toxic culture, they can rethink their attitudes and motivations in life.

This kind of nature-based, Christ-centered retreat offers a therapeutic environment where teens can rediscover the things that make them feel joyful, happy, and fulfilled in life.

In this positive environment, teens can develop coping mechanisms, emotional regulation, self-reliance, and leadership skills. Combined with our academic component, daily classes ensure teens continue to advance their education.

We’re Here to Support Your Teen On Their Journey to Recovery

Ways Shepherd’s Hill Academy Supports Recovery

Shepherd’s Hill Academy can help teens with mental health disorders, anger issues, and other problems. Each child’s disorder can benefit from this teen recovery program in a different way.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

ADHD is one of the most common diagnoses for teenagers. Without treatment, it can negatively impact a child’s ability to learn in school.

Anger Issues

When a teen suffers from anger issues, a nature-based program can help them focus on coping mechanisms, like mindfulness and breathing. Over time, they can learn to manage their anger.

High Functioning Autism (ASD)

At teen recovery centers, adolescents can learn to manage their autism. Being in a nature-based environment helps teens gain awareness and cooperative skills. Plus, it helps to reduce how overwhelmed the teen feels by outside noises and digital distractions.

Mood Disorders, Anxiety, Depression & Bi-Polar Disorder

Mood disorders can stem from many causes. Therapy can be an effective way to treat and manage these conditions.

Oppositional Defiance Disorder (ODD)

Teens with this disorder are frequently uncooperative and hostile toward authority figures. Physical exercise and behavioral therapies are popular treatments for ODD.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

Spending time in nature can significantly reduce the symptoms of PTSD. Over time, being exposed to nature can help the individual to reduce stress while improving their physical and mental well-being.

Self-Harm & Suicidal Thoughts

Among adolescents who suffered from self-harm, less than one out of five seeks treatment. By diagnosing and treating anxiety and depression in a teen recovery program, adolescents can effectively alleviate the root cause of their self-harm and suicidal thoughts.

Sexual Abuse Victims

Teen facilities can do more than focus on teen substance abuse recovery. The treatment center can help teens handle the lasting trauma and emotional consequences of sexual abuse.

Substance Abuse and Digital Addiction Recovery

While Shepherd’s Hill Academy treats more than substance abuse and digital addictions, many of its programs exclusively target these disorders. Typically, teens begin treatment at a detox center before transferring to Shepherd’s Hill Academy’s therapeutic program.

“

“The discipline, the responsibility, the spiritual guidance, and the schooling were exactly on target. SHA ministered to the entire family. Their program is unique – just like our situation was – but I can truthfully say their intervention in the life of my grandson helped him become a young man to be proud of. Would we do it again – without question.”

– Sara T, Grandparent of SHA Graduate
