Looking for a Christian boarding school near Townsend, Georgia?
Maybe you’ve been having difficulty with an angry or misbehaving teen in your family? Has your troubled boy or girl been kicked out of school, or gotten into trouble with authorities? We invite you to discover Shepherds Hill Academy, which is in Northeast Georgia. For 20 years, Shepherds Hill Academy has been guiding troubled boys and girls, helping them get back on track. We’ve helped hundreds of teens from around the country from families just like yours.
Shepherds Hill Academy believes that transformation due to a relationship with Jesus is the only true and lasting change. We provide a first-rate education, individual mentoring and counseling, equine therapy, and teamwork exercises to help teens build character and learn to make responsible choices.
A Hybrid Between a Wilderness Program and a Boarding School, with a Christian Emphasis
Shepherds Hill Academy, located in northeast Georgia about 2 hours from Atlanta, is a blend of a therapeutic wilderness program and a Christian boarding school with several forms of therapy, including counseling and equine therapy. Teens arrive at Shepherds Hill Academy from the east coast, south, midwest, western states and west coast, including from towns like Townsend.
The Wilderness Program is the First Phase
The early part of life at Shepherds Hill Academy is a wilderness program, intended to remove distractions, build trust and encourage teamwork. Being without technology and other conveniences allows teens to contemplate more meaningful issues of life. The necessity of collaborating to meet basic daily needs calls for coping and teamwork abilities, pushing teens to consider their responsibility to others.
The Residential Program is Next
Once the teens in our care consistently make responsible choices and take ownership of their growth, they shift to the residential program and live in a home on campus. This phase gets them ready to transition into society as privileges and individual freedoms are restored.
