Maybe you’ve been struggling with an angry or unruly teen in your family? Has your troubled teen been expelled from school, or gotten into trouble with authorities? Do you fear for their safety? We invite you to look into Shepherd’s Hill Academy, which is relatively close by. For over two decades, Shepherd’s Hill Academy has been guiding troubled boys and girls, helping them get back on track. We’ve helped hundreds of teens from around the country from homes just like yours.
Shepherd’s Hill Academy believes that a change of heart due to a relationship with Jesus is the only genuine and lasting change. We provide a first-rate education, individual mentoring and counseling, equine therapy, and teamwork exercises to help teens grow character and learn to make responsible decisions.
A Hybrid Between a Wilderness Program and a Boarding School, with a Christian Emphasis
Shepherd’s Hill Academy, located in northeast Georgia about 2 hours from Atlanta, combines the best aspects of a therapeutic wilderness program and a Christian boarding school with several forms of therapy, including counseling and equine therapy. Teens attend Shepherd’s Hill Academy from the east coast, south, midwest, western states and west coast, including from towns like North Wilkesboro.
The Wilderness Program is the First Phase
The first phase of enrollment at Shepherd’s Hill Academy is a wilderness program, designed to remove distractions, build trust and teach teamwork. Being without technology and other conveniences leaves time to contemplate more meaningful issues of life. The necessity of cooperating to meet simple daily needs requires coping and teamwork skills, compelling teens to consider how their contribution impacts others.
The Residential Program is Next
After a time, when teens display responsible decisions and take ownership of their development, they transfer to the residential program and move to a home on campus. This phase prepares them to transition into society as privileges and individual freedoms are restored.
