Looking for a Christian boarding school near Mount Dora, Florida?
Have you been having difficulty with a rebellious or misbehaving teen in your family? Has your troubled teen been expelled from school, or gotten into trouble with authorities? Do you worry about their safety? As a result, you may be considering residential care options; such as boots camps, a therapeutic boarding school or a wilderness program for troubled teens.
We invite you to check out Shepherd’s Hill Academy, which is relatively close by. For over two decades, Shepherd’s Hill Academy has been guiding troubled boys and girls, helping them get back on track. We’ve helped hundreds of teens from around the country from families just like yours.
Shepherd’s Hill Academy believes that transformation due to a relationship with Jesus is the only real and lasting change. We provide a first-rate education, one-on-one mentoring and counseling, equine therapy, and teamwork exercises to help teens grow character and learn to make responsible choices.
A Hybrid Between a Wilderness Program and a Boarding School, with a Christian Emphasis
Shepherd’s Hill Academy, located in northeast Georgia about 2 hours from Atlanta, combines the best aspects of a therapeutic wilderness program and a Christian boarding school with several forms of therapy, including counseling and equine therapy. Teens attend Shepherd’s Hill Academy from the east coast, south, midwest, western states and west coast, including from towns like Mount Dora.
The Wilderness Program is the First Phase
The first phase of a stay at Shepherd’s Hill Academy is a wilderness program, intended to eliminate distractions, build trust and encourage teamwork. Being without electronics and other conveniences leaves time to contemplate deeper issues of life. The necessity of cooperating to meet simple daily needs requires coping and teamwork strategies, compelling teens to consider their obligation to others.
The Residential Program is Next
After residents display responsible choices and take ownership of their growth, they transfer to the residential program and live in a home on campus. This phase prepares them to transition into society as privileges and personal liberties are restored.
