A Christ-Centered Therapeutic Boarding School

Shepherd’s Hill Academy is unapologetically Christ-centered, believing that a change of heart due to a relationship with Jesus is the only real and lasting change. We offer a first-rate education, individual mentoring and counseling, equine therapy, and teamwork exercises to help teens build character and learn to make responsible decisions.

Getting Started on the Right Foot — Our Wilderness Program

The early part of life at Shepherd’s Hill Academy is a wilderness program, designed to remove distractions, build trust and teach teamwork. Removing TV, cell phones and other conveniences gives teens an opportunity to contemplate more meaningful issues of life. The necessity of cooperating to meet basic daily needs calls for coping and teamwork skills, pushing teens to consider their obligation to others. As they watch staff and leaders who submit to God as the true Authority, they learn a reference point for themselves and can more appropriately relate to authority and to others.

This next step prepares them to transition into society as privileges and personal freedoms are restored. Careful coaching of parents in our retreats also takes place during this period in readiness for the teen’s return home.

All throughout the program, the teens receive regular counseling and attend our on-campus, fully accredited junior and senior high school, taught by Georgia certified teachers.
