The Truth Behind False Reports about Shepherds Hill!!

Well, the truth is, there are several self-proclaimed atheists bent on destroying Christian programs like ours, and they have especially targeted SHA due to our unwavering belief in salvation and the healing power of Christ. On four websites (we will not list them, since that will make them even more credible to the search engines if we direct people to visit them) they write shocking untruths about SHA and claim that they have “proof,” but it is all a bold lie. All of these sites echo and embellish the comments of one disgruntled student who attended SHA over ten years ago; fueling and perpetuating his false claims to push their own personal and professional agendas.

The fact is, if we had been committing any of the misdeeds that are suggested, we would have been shut down by the State of Georgia years ago.  We are regularly inspected and any complaint is immediately investigated to determine the validity of the claim.  No such claim has been found to be factual.  We continue to operate in good standing with the state and are endorsed by some of today’s top Christian leaders, who also put their names behind our program. Our staff are carefully trained and operate under the highest standards of integrity, because we know that even one mishap can cause our entire program to be shut down and our license revoked.

The atheists who perpetuate and promote these falsehoods on their websites have no fear of a repercussions because they know it would cost hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal fees and take years of time for us to get their site taken down, then they can just start up another website elsewhere which would have the same effect.  One of them is a lawyer himself, who wants to pick a fight to bring more attention to his desire to shut down ALL therapeutic programs for teens, and especially Christian ones. He claims he wants us to sue him, because that will bankrupt us through years of expensive litigation. Such law suits would be a no-win situation for us, nor do we feel led to spend a dime of God’s money on what is commonly known in the industry as “Reputation Management.” We simply hope and pray that these ridiculous stories are be seen for what they are in light of the obvious agendas and beliefs of those perpetuating them.

However, online experts tell us that over 80% of us believe the reviews and comments of other people online, even if we don’t know the person making the reviews.  This especially holds true for bad reviews and negative comments.  Some may reason that no one would say such falsehoods out of fear of being sued, but that simply isn’t the case today.  Comments can be couched in “opinion” and proof can be fabricated as well, making it nearly impossible for us to get these sites removed.

sha-billboard-picThe fact is, these websites are doing great damage to our program and other Christian programs like ours  because parents tend to believe these false reports.  All we ask is that you talk to the grateful parents who have had a teenager in our program (including the mother of the former student who perpetuated these falsehoods ten years ago).  They will tell you the real truth, because they are living it.  We will gladly give you their contact information.

So, when you do your research, realize that there are a few websites out there that are trying to get us shut down just because we are Christians; they can’t stand the thought that we minister in Christ’s name to the kids in our care. That’s the kind of world we live in today. Please don’t be fooled by their claims. Be discerning.  Look at other articles by them and their background and you will see what kind of people they really are. For instance, one of them claims he knows everything about SHA, but he lives in Scotland and has never set foot on our campus, nor has he had any direct connection with or relationship to anyone who has ever been in our program. He regurgitates the false report from a student ten years ago because tearing down a Christian therapeutic program like SHA tends to draw a lot of people to his website.

So, thank you in advance for being discerning and doing more research in regard to those who are making terrible comments about us, before you believe their lies. Please don’t give up on us. We have a really great program and great success stories.  As we continue to honor the Lord in all we do at SHA, we know we can help your teenager.  We think you will be pleased with the positive comments from parents and students about our program and that the truth will overshadow these false reports.

The first to present his case seems right, till another comes forward and questions him. —Proverbs 18:17

There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers. —Proverbs 6:16-19
