Maybe you’ve been struggling with an angry or unruly teen in your home? Has your troubled boy or girl been kicked out of school, or gotten into trouble with authorities? Do you fear for their safety? We provide a first-rate education, person-to-person mentoring and counseling, equine therapy, and teamwork exercises to help teens develop character and learn to make responsible decisions.
A Hybrid Between a Wilderness Program and a Boarding School, with a Christian Emphasis
Shepherds Hill Academy, located in northeast Georgia about 2 hours from Atlanta, is a hybrid between a therapeutic wilderness program and a Christian boarding school with several forms of therapy, including counseling and equine therapy. Teens arrive at Shepherds Hill Academy from the east coast, south, midwest, western states and west coast, including from towns like Temple Hills.
The Wilderness Program is the First Phase
The early part of a stay at Shepherds Hill Academy is a wilderness program, carefully planned to remove distractions, build trust and foster teamwork. Living without technology and other conveniences leaves time to contemplate deeper issues of life. The necessity of cooperating to meet basic daily needs requires coping and teamwork skills, compelling teens to consider their responsibility to others.
The Residential Program is Next
After a time, when teens demonstrate responsible decisions and take ownership of their growth, they transition to the residential program and move to a home on campus. This next step gets them ready to transition into society as privileges and individual liberties are restored.
