Maybe you’ve been struggling with a rebellious or misbehaving teen in your family? Has your troubled teen been kicked out of school, or gotten into trouble with authorities? A Hybrid Between a Wilderness Program and a Boarding School, with a Christian Emphasis
Shepherd’s Hill Academy, located in northeast Georgia about 2 hours from Atlanta, is a hybrid between a therapeutic wilderness program and a Christian boarding school with several forms of therapy, including counseling and equine therapy. Teens attend Shepherd’s Hill Academy from the east coast, south, midwest, western states and west coast, including from towns like Ormond Beach.
The Wilderness Program is the First Phase
The early part of a stay at Shepherd’s Hill Academy is a wilderness program, designed to remove distractions, build trust and teach teamwork. Living without electronics and other conveniences allows teens to contemplate deeper issues of life. The necessity of collaborating to meet simple daily needs calls for coping and teamwork skills, giving teens good reason to consider their responsibility to others.
The Residential Program is Next
After a time, when teens consistently make responsible choices and take ownership of their growth, they shift to the residential program and live in a home on campus. This next step gets them ready to transition into society as privileges and individual liberties are restored.
