Looking for a Christian boarding school near Lakeland, Florida?
You’ve likely been having difficulty with an angry or misbehaving teen in your family? Has your troubled boy or girl been kicked out of school, or gotten into trouble with the law? Do you fear for their safety? As a result, you may be looking into residential care options; such as boots camps, a therapeutic boarding school or a wilderness program for troubled teens.
We invite you to discover Shepherd’s Hill Academy, which is in Northeast Georgia. For 20 years, Shepherd’s Hill Academy has been guiding troubled boys and girls, helping them get back on track. We’ve helped hundreds of teens from around the country from families just like yours.
Shepherd’s Hill Academy believes that a change of heart due to a relationship with Jesus is the only true and lasting change. We provide a first-rate education, person-to-person mentoring and counseling, equine therapy, and teamwork exercises to help teens build character and learn to make responsible choices.
A Hybrid Between a Wilderness Program and a Boarding School, with a Christian Emphasis
Shepherd’s Hill Academy, located in northeast Georgia about 2 hours from Atlanta, is a blend of a therapeutic wilderness program and a Christian boarding school with several forms of therapy, including counseling and equine therapy. Teens come to Shepherd’s Hill Academy from the east coast, south, midwest, western states and west coast, including from towns like Lakeland.
The Wilderness Program is the First Phase
The early part of life at Shepherd’s Hill Academy is a wilderness program, designed to eliminate distractions, build trust and teach teamwork. Living without electronics and other conveniences leaves time to contemplate more meaningful issues of life. The necessity of collaborating to meet simple daily needs demands coping and teamwork abilities, pushing teens to consider their obligation to others.
The Residential Program is Next
After a time, when teens demonstrate responsible choices and take ownership of their growth, they transfer to the residential program and move to a home on campus. This phase prepares them to transition into society as privileges and personal freedoms are restored.
