Looking for a Christian boarding school near Gainesville, Florida?
Maybe you’ve been struggling with an angry or misbehaving teen in your home? Has your troubled boy or girl been kicked out of school, or gotten into trouble with the law? Do you fear for their safety? As a result, you may be looking into residential care options; such as boots camps, a therapeutic boarding school or a wilderness program for troubled teenagers.
We invite you to look into Shepherds Hill Academy, which is relatively close by. For 20 years, Shepherds Hill Academy has been helping troubled boys and girls, helping them get back on track. We’ve helped hundreds of teens from around the country from homes just like yours.
Shepherds Hill Academy believes that transformation due to a relationship with Jesus is the only genuine and lasting change. We offer a first-rate education, person-to-person mentoring and counseling, equine therapy, and teamwork exercises to help teens develop character and learn to make responsible decisions.
A Hybrid Between a Wilderness Program and a Boarding School, with a Christian Emphasis
Shepherds Hill Academy, located in northeast Georgia about 2 hours from Atlanta, is a blend of a therapeutic wilderness program and a Christian boarding school with several forms of therapy, including counseling and equine therapy. Teens arrive at Shepherds Hill Academy from the east coast, south, midwest, western states and west coast, including from towns like Gainesville.
The Wilderness Program is the First Phase
The first phase of a stay at Shepherds Hill Academy is a wilderness program, intended to eliminate distractions, build trust and encourage teamwork. Removing electricity and other conveniences leaves time to contemplate deeper issues of life. The necessity of working together to meet simple daily needs involves coping and teamwork strategies, giving teens good reason to consider their responsibility to others.
The Residential Program is Next
After a time, when teens consistently make responsible decisions and take ownership of their development, they transition to the residential program and live in a home on campus. This next step gets them ready to transition into society as privileges and individual liberties are restored.
