Looking for a Christian boarding school near Frederick, Maryland?
Have you been struggling with an angry or unruly teen in your family? Has your troubled teen been kicked out of school, or gotten into trouble with the law? Do you fear for their safety? As a result, you may be considering residential care options; such as boots camps, a therapeutic boarding school or a wilderness program for troubled teenagers.
We invite you to look into Shepherd’s Hill Academy, which is relatively close by. For over two decades, Shepherd’s Hill Academy has been guiding troubled boys and girls, helping them get back on track. We’ve helped hundreds of teens from around the country from families just like yours.
Shepherd’s Hill Academy believes that transformation due to a relationship with Jesus is the only true and lasting change. We provide a first-rate education, individual mentoring and counseling, equine therapy, and teamwork exercises to help teens grow character and learn to make responsible choices.
A Hybrid Between a Wilderness Program and a Boarding School, with a Christian Emphasis
Shepherd’s Hill Academy, located in northeast Georgia about 2 hours from Atlanta, is a hybrid between a therapeutic wilderness program and a Christian boarding school with several forms of therapy, including counseling and equine therapy. Teens come to Shepherd’s Hill Academy from the east coast, south, midwest, western states and west coast, including from towns like Frederick.
The Wilderness Program is the First Phase
The early part of a stay at Shepherd’s Hill Academy is a wilderness program, carefully planned to eliminate distractions, build trust and encourage teamwork. Living without TV, cell phones and other conveniences leaves time to contemplate more meaningful issues of life. The necessity of collaborating to meet simple daily needs demands coping and teamwork skills, giving teens good reason to consider their obligation to others.
The Residential Program is Next
After residents consistently make responsible choices and take ownership of their development, they transition to the residential program and live in a home on campus. This next step prepares them to transition into society as privileges and individual liberties are restored.
