We provide a first-rate education, individual mentoring and counseling, equine therapy, and teamwork exercises to help teens build character and learn to make responsible decisions.
A Hybrid Between a Wilderness Program and a Boarding School, with a Christian Emphasis
Shepherds Hill Academy, located in northeast Georgia about 2 hours from Atlanta, is a hybrid between a therapeutic wilderness program and a Christian boarding school with several forms of therapy, including counseling and equine therapy. Teens attend Shepherds Hill Academy from the east coast, south, midwest, western states and west coast, including from towns like Collierville.
The Wilderness Program is the First Phase
The early part of life at Shepherds Hill Academy is a wilderness program, carefully planned to remove distractions, build trust and teach teamwork. Being without technology and other conveniences allows teens to contemplate deeper issues of life. The necessity of cooperating to meet basic daily needs calls for coping and teamwork strategies, compelling teens to consider their obligation to others.
The Residential Program is Next
After a time, when teens consistently make responsible decisions and take ownership of their growth, they transition to the residential program and live in a home on campus. This phase prepares them to transition into society as privileges and personal liberties are restored.
