Teens come to Shepherd’s Hill Academy from the east coast, south, midwest, western states and west coast, including from towns like Camilla.

The Wilderness Program is the First Phase

The first phase of enrollment at Shepherd’s Hill Academy is a wilderness program, intended to eliminate distractions, build trust and foster teamwork. Being without electronics and other conveniences gives teens an opportunity to contemplate more meaningful issues of life. The necessity of working together to meet simple daily needs involves coping and teamwork abilities, compelling teens to consider how their contribution impacts others.

The Residential Program is Next

Once the teens in our care consistently make responsible decisions and take ownership of their development, they shift to the residential program and move to a home on campus. This phase gets them ready to transition into society as privileges and personal liberties are restored.

A Christian Boarding School Along with Therapy and Counseling

During both phases of the program, teens are enrolled in our on-campus, fully accredited junior and senior high school, taught by Georgia certified teachers. We desire students to get caught up and to also prepare for college, so we also incorporate test prep for the SAT and ACT as part of our regular curriculum.

Misbehaving teens are helped with the skills needed to become more confident, productive and respectful at home, school, and in the community. We provide a state accredited junior and senior high school on campus. Our unique combination of a wilderness program, certified equine program, and first-class school is all designed to bring focus back into a child’s life.
