Looking for a Christian boarding school near Burlington, North Carolina?
You’ve likely been having difficulty with a rebellious or unruly teen in your family? Has your troubled boy or girl been kicked out of school, or gotten into trouble with authorities? Do you worry about their safety? As a result, you may be looking into residential care options; such as boots camps, a therapeutic boarding school or a wilderness program for troubled teenagers.
We invite you to discover Shepherds Hill Academy, which is relatively close by. For a generation, Shepherds Hill Academy has been helping troubled boys and girls, helping them get back on track. We’ve helped hundreds of teens from around the country from homes just like yours.
Shepherds Hill Academy believes that transformation due to a relationship with Jesus is the only real and lasting change. We offer a first-rate education, one-on-one mentoring and counseling, equine therapy, and teamwork exercises to help teens grow character and learn to make responsible choices.
A Hybrid Between a Wilderness Program and a Boarding School, with a Christian Emphasis
Shepherds Hill Academy, located in northeast Georgia about 2 hours from Atlanta, combines the best aspects of a therapeutic wilderness program and a Christian boarding school with several forms of therapy, including counseling and equine therapy. Teens arrive at Shepherds Hill Academy from the east coast, south, midwest, western states and west coast, including from towns like Burlington.
The Wilderness Program is the First Phase
The first phase of life at Shepherds Hill Academy is a wilderness program, designed to remove distractions, build trust and teach teamwork. Living without technology and other conveniences gives teens an opportunity to contemplate deeper issues of life. The necessity of collaborating to meet basic daily needs calls for coping and teamwork strategies, compelling teens to consider their responsibility to others.
The Residential Program is Next
After residents consistently make responsible choices and take ownership of their development, they shift to the residential program and move to a home on campus. This next step prepares them to transition into society as privileges and individual freedoms are restored.
