You’ve likely been struggling with a rebellious or misbehaving teen in your family? Has your troubled teen been kicked out of school, or gotten into trouble with authorities? We invite you to check out Shepherds Hill Academy, which is relatively close by. For over two decades, Shepherds Hill Academy has been helping troubled boys and girls, helping them get back on track. We’ve helped hundreds of teens from around the country from families just like yours.
Shepherds Hill Academy believes that a change of heart due to a relationship with Jesus is the only real and lasting change. We offer a first-rate education, one-on-one mentoring and counseling, equine therapy, and teamwork exercises to help teens grow character and learn to make responsible decisions.
A Hybrid Between a Wilderness Program and a Boarding School, with a Christian Emphasis
Shepherds Hill Academy, located in northeast Georgia about 2 hours from Atlanta, is a blend of a therapeutic wilderness program and a Christian boarding school with several forms of therapy, including counseling and equine therapy. Teens arrive at Shepherds Hill Academy from the east coast, south, midwest, western states and west coast, including from towns like Booneville.
The Wilderness Program is the First Phase
The first phase of a stay at Shepherds Hill Academy is a wilderness program, carefully planned to eliminate distractions, build trust and teach teamwork. Removing electricity and other conveniences allows teens to contemplate more meaningful issues of life. The necessity of collaborating to meet basic daily needs calls for coping and teamwork skills, pushing teens to consider how their contribution impacts others.
The Residential Program is Next
After a time, when teens consistently make responsible decisions and take ownership of their development, they transfer to the residential program and live in a home on campus. This phase prepares them to transition into society as privileges and personal liberties are restored.
