Maybe you’ve been struggling with an angry or unruly teen in your home? Has your troubled boy or girl been kicked out of school, or gotten into trouble with authorities? Shepherds Hill Academy is unapologetically Christ-centered, believing that a change of heart due to a relationship with Jesus is the only real and lasting change. A Hybrid Between a Wilderness Program and a Boarding School, with a Christian Emphasis
Shepherds Hill Academy, located in northeast Georgia about 2 hours from Atlanta, combines the best aspects of a therapeutic wilderness program and a Christian boarding school with several forms of therapy, including counseling and equine therapy. Teens arrive at Shepherds Hill Academy from the east coast, south, midwest, western states and west coast, including from towns like Vidalia.
The Wilderness Program is the First Phase
The first phase of life at Shepherds Hill Academy is a wilderness program, intended to eliminate distractions, build trust and encourage teamwork. Being without electronics and other conveniences leaves time to contemplate deeper issues of life. The necessity of cooperating to meet simple daily needs demands coping and teamwork abilities, compelling teens to consider their responsibility to others.
The Residential Program is Next
After a time, when teens demonstrate responsible choices and take ownership of their development, they transition to the residential program and move to a home on campus. This next step gets them ready to transition into society as privileges and individual freedoms are restored.
An Accredited Boarding School in Georgia with Certified Teachers and College Prep
All throughout the program, teens attend our on-campus, fully accredited junior and senior high school, taught by Georgia certified teachers. We encourage students to get caught up and to also prepare for college, so we also include test prep for the SAT and ACT as part of our daily curriculum.
We can equip troubled teens with the skills needed to become more confident, productive and respectful at home, school, and in the community. We provide a fully accredited junior and senior high school on campus. Our unique combination of wilderness therapy, certified equine program, and first-class school is all designed to bring focus back into a child’s life. We also utilize accountability groups, individual behavioral and family sessions for the adolescent.

|More about boarding schools in or near Vidalia, Georgia:Vidalia, is a city in Toombs and very slightly into Montgomery counties in the U.S. state of Georgia. As of the 2000 census, the city population was 10,491. It is the largest city in Toombs, but is not the county seat. Like so many towns in the region, it grew up around a train depot that serviced farmers in the area who grew such crops as pecans and tobacco. The famous sweet onions were not an important crop until much later.|
Although it has never been officially confirmed, it is believed by locals that the 1996 song Vidalia alludes to the Vidalia Sweet Onion crop with its lyrics “…sweet Vidalia, You always gotta make me cry!” While uncertainty remains about the song, Vidalia sweet onions have recently made a name for the town through national media and the Onions and Ogres advertisement campaign which features the cartoon ogre Shrek.
Vidalia is the principal city of the Vidalia Micropolitan Statistical Area, a micropolitan area that covers Montgomery and Toombs counties and had a combined population of 34,337 at the 2000 census.GR
