What to Expect at Shepherds Hill Academy Boarding School for Troubled Teens
The beginning of a student’s stay at Shepherds Hill Academy is in our unplugged outdoor wilderness program, carefully planned to remove distractions, build trust and teach teamwork. Removing electronic devices from student’s living quarters leaves them time to contemplate deeper issues of life. The necessity of working together with their peers to meet simple daily needs involves learning coping and teamwork skills, compelling teens to consider their obligation to others.
After residents display responsible decisions and take ownership of their growth, they transfer to the residential program and live in a home on campus. This next step gets them ready to transition into society, and your home, as privileges and personal liberties are restored.
An Accredited Boarding School in Georgia with Certified Teachers and College Prep
During both parts of the program, teens are enrolled in our on-campus, fully accredited junior and senior high school, staffed with Georgia certified teachers. We encourage and help students get caught up. Then we help prepare them for college. We incorporate test preparations for the ACT and SAT as part of our regular curriculum.
Combine our therapy with a Georgia accredited education program, Shepherds Hill Academy provides a well-rounded opportunity for teens to be productive upon graduating the program and receiving their high school diploma. In fact, many graduates have received academic/sports scholarships, entered the military, or chosen numerous other productive career paths.
Shepherds Hill Academy takes the teen healing process seriously and credits its success based on being a Jesus Christ-centered program. SHA does not force a teenager to become a Christian; however, Christian principles—compassion, kindness, patience, humility, selflessness, unity, teamwork and self-control—will be exemplified by our staff and will be expected to be exhibited by each teen on a daily basis!
