Are you a resident of Charleston, SC with a troubled teen? Our boarding school is just next door in Georgia!
Are you having difficulty controlling your teen? Are they unruly, rebellious or in trouble at school? Are they participating in risky behavior that may be putting your family in danger? Perhaps you’ve decided it’s time to seek residential care. Your options include therapeutic boarding schools with an outdoor wilderness program. Let us introduce you to one such program: Shepherds Hill Academy (SHA).
Although Shepherds Hill is not located in the city of Charleston, a place away from home may be just what your child needs! Located just under 4 hours via Interstate 26, Shepherds Hill Academy is a therapeutic boarding school designed for helping your troubled teen get back on track. In fact, we’ve helped many teens heal from a variety of behavioral issues. Hundreds of teens and families from around the country, including the Charleston area, have found hope and healing at Shepherds Hill Academy.
Is Shepherds Hill Academy Right for my Teen?
For starters, Shepherds Hill Academy is a Christ-centered therapeutic boarding school. We believe that genuine change that lasts comes from a relationship with Jesus Christ. At Shepherds Hill we also believe that your teen deserves a top rated education. In fact, many teens arrive at SHA nearly failing out of their classes. However, highly qualified and compassionate staff offer top rated education and mentoring to challenge your teen to grow. Many of our students not only leave proudly holding diplomas, but with a jump start on college as well! SAT and ACT preparation are a core part of the SHA curriculum.
In addition to a top rated education, Shepherds Hill Academy also offers person-to-person mentoring and counseling, equine therapy, and teamwork exercises. At Shepherds Hill, your teen will be challenged to develop character and make responsible life decisions.
Shepherds Hill Academy is located in northeast Georgia approximately 2 hours from Atlanta. Although our residential academy is 4 hours away from Charleston, the distance between your teen’s current distractions and our outdoor wilderness therapy will be incredibly effective! In fact, we’ve seen many success stories from all over the east coast in areas like Charleston, Savannah, Columbia, and more!
The Effectiveness of the Outdoor Wilderness Phase
Upon entry into Shepherds Hill Academy, your teen will enter our outdoor wilderness program. This program is designed to remove teens from the distractions of our culture and media. This helps to build trust and foster teamwork. When your teen lives without electricity and other modern conveniences that are often taken for granted, they are given the opportunity to contemplate life issues. Teens are encouraged and challenged to consider their responsibility to others and develop coping and teamwork strategies.
An Added Residential Phase
As teens develop and grow, becoming more responsible and taking ownership for their growth, they may transition into the second phase of the Shepherds Hill Academy program called the Next Step. This phase includes a residential aspect where teens are permitted to live in a home on campus. The idea behind the Next Step program is to help students achieve additional responsibility and character development and to seamlessly transition your child back into society and/or your home.
The Benefits of a Fully Accredited Boarding School
During your teen’s time at Shepherds Hill Academy they will be enrolled in our on-campus, fully accredited junior and senior high school. Our academy is staffed with Georgia certified teachers who are both top rated and compassionate.
At Shepherds Hill Academy we equip your troubled teen with skills needed to become confident, productive and respectful.
