When your teen gets into your car, what radio stations does he/she want to listen to?
Typically, they may want to tune into his/her favorite pop-music station.
Hopefully, the music isn’t overtly evil; but, even if it isn’t, there is still an influence in much of today’s music that reinforces an attitude and worldview that isn’t all that congruent with a biblical worldview.
This leads us to this question: Is it possible to retrain your teen’s appetite in his/her preference of music?
Suggestions to Begin Retraining Your Teen’s Appetite
First, be intentional with your time in the car with your teen.
Instead of tuning into today’s top 40, or allowing them to listen to music on a mobile device or headphones, consider a healthy mix of Bible teachings and worship music.
You may be surprised that this may help your teen acquire an appetite for some of it.
Find a Balance
On the other hand, if all you listen to in the car is Christian radio it can give our kids fodder to overindulge in some of the not-so-holy music when you’re not around.
Be a wise parent in what you allow to play on the radio in your car when traveling. Offer a balance without compromising your, or your kids’, biblical worldview.
Of course, in today’s culture, kids have easy access to music and other entertainment vices. Be sure to check our other articles on this subject.
