If you have not heard, our team is putting together our first-ever, large-scale event titled Raising Healthy Kids in the Digital Age at Toccoa Falls College on March 21, 2015.
Saturday evening, March 21st, I have the privilege of sharing the stage along side nationally known authors and speakers John Rosemond, and Alex McFarland. Our goal is to provide parents with the tools necessary to navigate today’s digital age.
There are three primary reasons you should join us at Toccoa Falls College.
1) Expose the Truth of Digital Technology
I often say that many parents do not even realize they have a problem with digital technology. This is true. As I sit at any restaurant and look around, I see entire families sitting around the same table together while each one is on their own device. This hinders the development of their family relationship.
However, when I’ve discussed this problem with people I meet, I’m given this answer: “I don’t see anything wrong with this.” The reality is: this is so common that parents do not see the damaging effects it is having on one another.
On March 21st, we expose the damaging effects the digital age is having on families.
2) Practical Parenting Tips
Once we have exposed the truth of today’s digital age, we will begin unpacking three practical tips that you can implement immediately within your home.
The first step is to explain “how to integrate apologetics and worldview training” into your home.
We will also present practical steps you can take to begin “parenting by the book.”
Lastly, we will reveal “practical boundaries” you can apply within your own home in order to address the digital challenges your family faces on a daily basis.
3) Be a Part of Supporting a Family in Need
Our Admissions team at Shepherd’s Hill Academy literally turns away nearly 300 families a month because they are unable to afford the tuition of residential care.
These are all families that have teens that are in need of help. Many families are in crisis when they call our Admissions team. While we are able to pray with them and send them to our free resources, the help they really need is residential care.
After turning away so many families, we created the SHA Student Scholarship Fund. This fund is specifically designed to lower the tuition price for families in need.
Toccoa Falls College has generously provided us free of charge their auditorium at Grace Chapel, and their event personnel, for this one night event. In addition, they have agreed that 100% of the proceeds received from the event will go directly to the SHA Student Scholarship Fund.
This means that when you purchase a ticket to our event every dollar earned goes directly to the SHA Student Scholarship Fund to help a family in need.
I hope you will consider attending Raising Healthy Kids in the Digital Age. You can find ticket information on the License to Parent event page. Or, if you prefer, you can contact our office at 706-779-5736.
We hope to see you there!
