Many people fall victim to the mindset that teens are just selfish by nature. They say that it is only a “season” in their life. I’d like to help you understand one way possible to raise a selfless teen.
How many teenagers does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
Just one. The teen holds the bulb, and the whole world revolves around him.
We can laugh because there’s an element of truth here.
Raise a Selfless Teen
But, are we going to buy the common notion that self-centeredness is just part of being a teen?
Because of our sin nature, there is a degree of selfishness in all of us. But to simply assume, and therefore accept, the fact that our teens will be selfish sets them –and us– up for failure.
Much of being self-centered is a learned behavior, and it is not learned in Scripture. So, let’s raise the bar by raising our kids in a household that lives by the Book!
