During our workshops at Shepherds Hill Academy I frequently advise parents not to send their child to public school.
According the Barna Group, only about 7% of American adults believe the public school system is “very effective.”
And these aren’t specifically Christian adults.
But public schools are very effective in educating our kids about illicit sex, drugs and a whole host of politically correct beliefs that contradict a biblical worldview.
So, why do we still send our kids there?
I believe it’s largely because we don’t know any better. In addition, we feel we need two-parent incomes to pay for all of our stuff. Public school frees us from the burden of educating are own kids so both parents can work.
But today’s public education is often a greater burden than if we just, by faith, taught them at home.
