What builds good character?
The godly parent knows the answers are found in Scripture.
But, these paths to good character often contradict pop psychology and political correctness.
The uncomfortable truth is that building good character most often comes not from our triumphs, but through our tragedies–our struggles in life.
It is time we allow our kids to endure and sort through the natural consequences of their actions so they might grow in godly character and acquire the mind of Christ.
For example, let’s say you warned your son not to skateboard without knee pads. When his knee requires five stitches because he disregarded your warning, the deductible for the emergency room visit needs to be worked-off by your son. The skateboard stays on a shelf until it’s paid.
