The example I am about to use will no doubt resonate with many.
It is a perfect example of how food and amusement are wearing down the family.
Solace in Food
Recently, sitting near to me at a local buffet was a father and his two children. They were eating like there was no tomorrow. Dad rarely looked up from his smartphone, except to routinely return to the buffet. Despite having multitudes of nutritious foods to choose from, he proceeded to fill his kids’ plates with floury and sugary foods. As one of the kids petitioned dad to leave, without taking his eyes off his smartphone, he told his son to be quiet and get more food.
Where food and amusement are weakening the family, similar scenes are too common in too many American homes. Families will find solace in food and amusement at the expense of relational, emotional, spiritual, and even physical health.
