Speaking to fathers: How often does your daughter hear from you that she’s lovely?
Just as a preface, this post is directed towards dads with daughters.
You know there’s something in every girl that can be described as lovely. Maybe it’s her personality, her generosity, her work ethic, her hair or her skin.
Perhaps it’s her relationship with the Lord.
Whatever the positive qualities are in your daughter, be sure to notice–and affirm her in these areas genuinely and regularly.
If we, as dads, fail in this area, the chances increase that she will be swooned by some gangly skateboard jockey resembling a praying mantis with acne.
Because this kind of guy WILL tell her she’s lovely–albeit with wrong motives.
However, if she’s regularly affirmed by someone she already knows, loves, and respects, she’s much more likely to be discriminant against the world’s Preying Mantises.
