Shepherd’s Hill Academy has served families that have been through short-term treatment programs for their troubled teen struggling with a multitude of disorders or behavioral issues.
After their child returns from a short-term therapeutic behavioral facility, we find that many parents need long-term care for their son or daughter, such as a therapeutic boarding school. A therapeutic boarding school allows the child to obtain continual therapeutic care while completing their academia.
We certainly understand parents would like to avoid residential care at all cost. We also recognize that short-term care may be the only option for some families, and for some it may be the solution. However, the expertise of our team has found that it takes 12 to 18 months to see short term behavioral changes become true lasting life-changing behaviors. Many families have found the success with long-term therapeutic boarding schools to be the most effective method for their troubled teens.
Listen as This Father Explains His Journey
“After two years of short-term help and homeschooling, we continued to have issues at home and knew that we needed to look for a longer term place. And we looked around the southeast for several and there were several signs that pointed us here and we believed those signs were provided for a reason, that God was telling us this was the best place for our daughter to be.”
