Chores may be a surprising solution to many of the frustrations you have with your teen.
If your son or daughter doesn’t have a list of chores around the house that he or she is responsible for routinely, then you are ripping off – not just your children, but yourself as well.
In years gone by, kids were considered financial assets to the home – largely because the more people in the household the more help the parents had in and around the home.
But a more important point is; kids felt needed as they were contributors to the family as a whole. They weren’t treated as trophies of the parents – not to be disturbed from their myriad of self-indulgences, such as the many electronic badges kids are so addicted to today.
As we give our kids chores, let’s give them challenging things that offer them a genuine sense of accomplishment.
