The Wilderness Program is the First Phase

The first phase of enrollment at Shepherd’s Hill Academy is a wilderness program, designed to get rid of distractions, build trust and teach teamwork. Removing TV, cell phones and other conveniences allows teens to contemplate more meaningful issues of life. The necessity of cooperating to meet simple daily needs involves coping and teamwork skills, giving teens good reason to consider their responsibility to others.

The Residential Program is Next

After residents display responsible choices and take ownership of their development, they transition to the residential program and live in a home on campus. This next step gets them ready to transition into society as privileges and personal liberties are restored.

During both phases of the program, teens are enrolled in our on-campus, fully accredited junior and senior high school, staffed with Georgia certified instructors. We encourage students to get caught up and to also prepare for college, so we also incorporate test prep for the SAT and ACT as part of our ordinary curriculum.

Shepherd’s Hill Academy is designed to equip troubled youth with the skills needed to become more confident, productive and respectful at home, school, and in the community. We provide a state accredited junior and senior high school on campus. Our unique combination of wilderness therapy, certified equine program, and first-class school is all designed to bring focus back into a child’s life.
